Everybody wants to be a Cat

Another nice Disney jazz song.

Wayne Newton - Danke Schoen

Kurt Schwaback and Milt Gabler wrote 'Danke Schoen' lyrics in the style of old masters like Johny Mercer ...
Music was composed by Bert Kaempfert with a jazzy kick. This was the big hit for 21 year old Wayne Newton in 1963. It became an instant Las Vegas standard.
In German, "Danke schön" is equivalent to the English "thank you very much". It literally means "Thanks pretty", similar to the English "thank you kindly." The polite response is "bitte schön," which translates roughly and literally to "you're very welcome" and "pretty please" respectively. In English, the German letter "ö" can also be written as "oe" when the umlaut is unavailable.

The Rumba Kings

For our Serbian friend Djelem, Djelem!(Teddy & Dino)

OK, I don't drink, but with this music, and The Rumba Kings: Teddy, Donny, Bobby, Dino, Sam ... I may start drinking again. Actually I had that night 4-5 beers.
The Rumba Kings are family band from Wisconsin. They play music in the style of Gypsy Kings, and also traditional Gypsy songs. This was their first gig at the Brink in Madison, and I hope they can do it again.

Oliver

I'm not a big fan of musicals, but Oliver is on my Top 5 list. I enjoy the movie version so much, and I can still watch it over and over after 40 years. Everything in this movie is excellent starting with songs, choreography … to magnificent Ron Moody as Fagin. I still remember when I saw him for the firs time I couldn’t believe that it’s a real man and not a cartoon character. No one can repeat the way Ron is moving and walking. Check on youtube for more Oliver clips, buy DVD or if you are lucky see it live.
